Emergencies and disasters can happen at any time. Are you prepared for such an event? If not, start taking the necessary precautions to keep yourself, your family and loved ones safe. Follow these three easy steps to begin preparations:
- BE INFORMED about various types of emergencies that can occur and specific actions to take.
- HAVE A PLAN for you and your family to follow in the event of an emergency.
- GET A KIT filled with various survival items to last at least three days to a week.
Emergency personnel will respond after a disaster, but they may not be able to reach everyone immediately. In the event of an emergency, it is critical for you to be prepared to survive on your own for at least three days. This may mean providing your own shelter, food, water, first-aid, sanitation and other basic needs.
