Upcoming Traffic Improvements

The North Cornwall Township Board of Supervisors invited the Lebanon County Planning Department's Mr. Tom Kotay and Traffic Planning and Design's (TPD) Mr. Eric Mountz to the February 17, 2015 Supervisors' Meeting to give a presentation on the future road improvement projects within the Township.


The road and intersection projects that were addressed were along the State Routes: Cornwall Road (SR2001), Quentin Road (SR0072), State Route: Rocherty Road (SR2002 east of Cornwall Rd), and Township Route: Rocherty Road (T-441 west of Cornwall Rd). The planned road improvements along these corridors are a joint funding effort between private funds from the North Cornwall Commons Development Group, Federal, State (PennDOT), and Lebanon County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).


Mr. Mountz discussed the process of acquiring the necessary right-of-way land for all of the projects, which has begun in 2015, and presented aerial view plans of the roadway sections, detailed the construction work, and discussed projected timelines for each of the following projects:

• The first (#1) project slated for construction in 2015 -2016 is the Cornwall Road and Rocherty Road intersection (CLICK HERE). This work is privately funded in conjunction with the North Cornwall Commons Development project and will include road widening, turning lanes, and new traffic signals.


• The second (#2) road improvement project, slated for construction in 2016 -2017 will be at the Quentin Road and Rocherty Road intersection (CLICK HERE). This project's pre-construction phases will be funded with private developer funds and the construction phase by State funds and will include road widening, turning lanes, and new traffic signals.


• The third (#3) road improvement project, slated for construction in 2016 -2017 will be the Cornwall Road and Isabel Drive intersection and the Cornwall Road corridor from Russell Drive south to projects number one's ending segment, north of Rocherty Road (CLICK HERE). This project's pre-construction phases will be funded with private developer funds and the construction phase by State funds and will include road widening, center turning lane, and a new traffic signal.

 


Mr. Kotay presented information LEBCO MPO Projects with a sketch plan, detailing the construction work and projected timelines for the following locations:

• The fourth (#4) road improvement project, slated for construction in 2017 -2018 will be the Cornwall Road and Wilhelm Avenue Road Realignment Project. (CLICK HERE). This project will be funded with Local MPO money and will include new road construction to realign Wilhelm Ave. with York Street and installation of a new traffic signal.


• The fifth (#5) road improvement project, slated for construction in 2018 -2019 will be the Quentin Road and Isabel Drive intersection (CLICK HERE). This project will be funded with Local MPO money and will include center turning lane, and a new traffic signal.
