Property Taxes

The Township taxes are now administered by the County of Lebanon Treasurer's Office, who distributes and collects Township Municipal and Lebanon County property taxes. This tax is mailed and should arrive by early March each year. It is based on the valuation of the assessed land and whatever is built upon that land.  The March combined bill will include both the local Township Municipal and Lebanon County taxes.

The Township's current tax ratio is 1.300 mils for general purposes and 0.200 mils for Fire Protection Fund, for a local municipal 1.500 mils tax rate total. To calculate your taxes, take the assessed valuation and multiply it by the millage base. An example would be $100,000 as your assessed valuation X 0.0015 = $150 annual local municipal property tax due.

Fire Protection expenditures is something that has always been incorporated into the Township tax & annual budget. In previous years, it was never separated out on the tax bills. However, in an effort to be more transparent, the Township Supervisors wanted the Fire Protection portion listed as a separate line on the tax bills, so that our residents can see where their taxes are going and how much they are paying toward that service. This was modeled after other adjacent Townships' tax breakdowns (North Lebanon and South Lebanon), which have shown the separation for years.

Fire Protection service encompasses many things related to emergency situations, namely: fire hydrants, insurances, supplies for the Neversink Fire Company, monetary support of the Neversink Fire Company, as well as other emergency agencies.

Local Services Tax

Keystone Municipal Collections Group has been retained for the collection of local services tax (LST). Their local office can be found at the Lebanon County Court House in room 113, 400 South 8th Street, Lebanon, PA 17042 or they can be reached by phone at (717) 272-3770. This company has also replaced the functions of the Lebanon County Earned Income Tax Bureau and is collecting the earned income tax, as well as the school taxes.

The Local Services tax replaced the Emergency Services Tax around 2007.  This was done by a Senate Bill (#218).  The Local Services tax is now designated for any overall Township service, not just emergency services.

In addition to this change, the Township eliminated the Per Capita tax around 2012.  This was assessed on Township residents.

Visit Keystone Collections website at www.keystonecollects.com for access to their forms, policies and various information.
